About The Photographer

My name is Philip Warren and I was born and raised on a dairy farm in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. I don't really know when the first camera was placed in my hand but I know it was at a very young age. This might explain why there are no baby pictures of myself. I took my first portrait photograph of my grandparents when I was seventeen. Photography was used extensively in my chosen field of forensic sciences for the RCMP. During my 31 years in the RCMP, I have told stories and recorded history through photography. During the Yukon Centennial year in 1995, I was photographed in a large group with an old panoramic camera. Intrigued with this photograph, I decided to explore panoramic cameras. They have been around for more than a hundred years but their popularity waned with the introduction of newer technology. There is no better type of camera to take photographs of large groups of people. I purchased a Noblex medium-format panoramic camera and I would like to reintroduce the art of panoramic photography.

The Noblex Camera

The Noblex camera is a fully manual camera that operates with a swing lens taking a photo measuring 140 degrees. Less than three photographs will give you a complete circle. The photographs from the Noblex camera are both impressive and unique. With a negative measuring 2¼ inches by 5 inches, which allows tremendous detail in the final product, the popular sizes of prints are 5½ X 14, 8 X 20, and 10 X 24. This camera is great for large group shots, park settings for wedding parties, and scenery. My most popular print size is the 8 x 20. Frames are readily available.
